                            Taurus & Health

April 21 to May 22

Ruling Planet:  Venus***Element:   Earth***Modality:  Fixed***Sign:  Feminine

Parts of the body ruled by Taurus include the throat, neck, lymph glands, thyroid and lymphatic system. Its ruling planet, Venus, governs the eyes, skin and kidneys.

Ailments include obesity, gallstones, diabetes, heart problems, sore throat , swollen glands and nodes, mononucleosis, thyroid irregularity, stiff neck, laryngitis, gingivitis, strangulation, tonsillitis, tumors, abscesses, gum disease  and skin rashes.

Taurus's strong, tough constitution coupled with immense obstinacy and an aversion to dependency prevents the native of this sign from becoming seriously ill. When under the weather , they will avoid going to the doctor or asking for help. Physically, Taurus people possess great vitality and endurance. They have a deep-seated fear of disease.

To allay emotional stress, anger, sadness  or feelings of insecurity and inadequacy, Taureans will tend to seek solace in promiscuity, overspending and/or overeating. These excessive and indulgent behavior patterns will plague them throughout their life affecting both their mental and physical health. Being "a fixed sign", Taureans are very obstinate about changing a habit once it is established. Stress is often a factor in soreness of the neck because we tend to to hold our tensions in those muscles. Vitamin B-complex vitamins are wonderful for stress relief. Ginseng is the most notable medicinal herb to restore vitality and protect your body from the negative effects of stress. Kava Kava can pre-empt stress if you take it before an expected stressful situation. This herb is non-addictive, and your mind will remain alert even when you take it during the day.

If the skin of your neck is beginning to wrinkle add the mineral, selenium to your diet. Combat flabby throats with a supplement of flaxseed oil or evening primrose oil, both of which provide the fatty acids needed for healthy skin. Skin responds slowly, so give it several months to show results.

The cell-salt of this sign is a mineral salt called sodium sulphate (sulphate of sodium). Sodium sulphate is recommended for Taureans as it prevents water retention, regulates water supply, and eliminates excess water. Foods rich in sodium sulphate include lettuce, onions, beets, cauliflower, swiss chard, celery, strawberries, cucumbers, spinach and apples.

To accelerate the metabolism and restore vitality, they should substitute cocoa or ginger tea for the usual shot of morning coffee.  Taureans should make sure that their diet has adequate amount of iodine to insure proper functioning of the thyroid gland, thus preventing goiter, to which Taureans are sometimes prone. The best common iodine sources are: most salt-water fish and seafood and iodized salt.

After the age of 45, Taureans should supplement their regular diet with Vitamin A, E, Niacin and Copper. They should develop an attitude of optimism and flexibility and avoid stubbornness and self-indulgence to maintain good health throughout their life. Many of the health problems commonly associated with Taurus can be prevented or corrected by proper  diet.
