PLANETS IN DETRIMENT

   One of the essential debilities. The detriments of the planets are the signs opposite to those which they rule. The following is a list of them:

           Sun (Ruler, Leo) has its detriment in Aquarius

     Moon (Ruler, Cancer) has its detriment in Capricorn

      Mercury (Rulers, Gemini and Virgo) has its detriment in Sagittarius and Pisces

     Venus (Rulers, Libra and Taurus) has its detriment in Aries and Scorpio

     Mars (Rulers, Aries and Scorpio) has its detriment in Libra and Taurus

     Jupiter (Rulers, Sagittarius and Pisces) has its detriment in Gemini and Virgo

     Saturn (Rulers, Capricorn and Aquarius) has its detriment in Cancer and Leo

DIGNITIES

     Dignities are positions that strengthen the influence of a planet. They are called  essential  when they relate to sign position, and  occidental when relating to house position or aspects. The essential dignities are five in number, namely, House, Exaltation Triplicity, Term and Decanate. The table below shows the essential dignities of the planets in all the signs. Fortuna shares these accidental dignities, and is essentially dignified in Taurus, Pisces, Cancer, Leo, Libra, Gemini, and the first 13 degrees of Virgo; these being in order of importance.
