MASSACRE AT VIRGINIA TECH

Cho Seung-Hui

On Monday, April 16, 2007 at 7:15 a.m. (EDT) several gun shots were heard at a dorm at Virginia
Tech located at Blacksburg, Virginia. What was at first thought to be a domestic dispute, later what
really unfolded amid the  chaos was a horrible massacre. A lone gunman (a student) named Cho
Seung-Hui, Korean by birth, killed two people at the dorm. Later at 9:45 a.m. he shot down 30 more
students and professors in an engineering and classroom building. People investigating the case say
that he shot over 100 times before he shot himself with one bullet to his head.

Since he too is dead, he cannot be questioned as to why he committed such a horrible crime.
However, as the facts are gathered and published,  we are beginning to know who he was and what
he was like when he attended Westfield High in Chantilly, Virginia and Virginia Tech.

It appears that he was loner, "the kid who never spoke". That was what his classmates had to say
about him. He was taunted by bullies and other students tried to befriend him but found it difficult to
converse with him. He was a quiet and shy kid who took a lot from others and said nothing. Now it is
thought that he may have harbored a great deal of anger inside of him. "It was destined to happen"
said a student about him. *

Though we will never know the true reason why Cho chose to let out all of his anger by killing a
lot of people, a natal chart constructed for Cho's birth would reveal a great deal about his character
and the way he might act in a stressful situation. Cho was born in Seoul, South Korea on Jan 18, 1984.
His time of  birth is unknown. The only chart that we can construct for him is a Solar chart (see
Chart 1 below) which puts his Sun on the Ascendant by degree and all the houses have the same
degree as the Ascendant. The rest of the planets are placed in the houses according to their sign.

Cho's Sun is in the sign of Capricorn at 27° ruled by Saturn. Capricorn people are very serious and
feel a great responsibility about achieving in life. It's the "goat" climbing a mountain regardless of
hurdles in the way trying to reach the summit. Most often the Capricorn natives do achieve their
goals. Saturn makes their nature rather cold and aloof but they are very grounded since Capricorn is
an earth sign. Capricorns are shy and reserve around people as they are not sure of themselves and
do not like people to  make fun of them.

Mercury is also in the sign of Capricorn. Mercury rules his thinking processes. This is a slow,
serious and methodically thinking person and is apt to feel depression at times since the thoughts are
so serious! This Mercury joins Neptune and Jupiter. These three planets working together in his chart
does explain somewhat  his known mental illness and confusion. Neptune, the planet of illusions and
fog, touching Mercury and expanded by Jupiter, caused him to think and see things not very clearly.
Transiting Pluto at almost 29° joins this grouping in his 12th house of his Solar Chart. Pluto is power!
Planets located in the 12th house are very troublesome for the native since they have cannot be
expressed outwardly or normally. It is also the house of hospitals, hidden enemies, institutions,
prisons, etc. The meeting of transiting Pluto to Jupiter, Neptune and Mercury in the 12th house was
the force behind his final act.

What is most revealing in his chart is that Mars and Pluto are joined together and Saturn close by
all in the sign of Scorpio and all located in his 10th house. Scorpio natives are very silent, secretive
and vengeful when attacked. They will plan and avenge their attackers in a cold blooded manner.
The planets, Mars and Pluto together are deadly together. The energies emanating from these two
together need an outlet and a positive one. Otherwise, it is very destructive energy. The sign
Scorpio rules firearms and Pluto means a lot of people. All in the 10th house would show that his
action would be seen by the outer world and would involve a  lot of people.

Transiting Jupiter in 19°of Sagittarius was approaching his natal Venus and had just recently passed
over his Uranus both in the sign of Sagittarius. His North Node at 13° Gemini was opposing his Uranus
and transiting Venus at almost 12°Gemini was joining his North Node but opposing his  natal Uranus
from the 5th house to the 11th house. This leads one to believe that there was a romantic tie to his
motives and he may have been rejected or rebuffed by someone that he knew. Transiting Mars at
12°,North Node at 13° and Uranus 17° all in the sign of Pisces, all were squaring his Natal Venus and
Uranus in Sagittarius. Cho was indeed feeling a great deal of tension at this time.

Cho was born at the Full Moon phase and his moon is in Cancer almost opposing his Sun. This
moon would have made him shy, cautious, very attached to his mother, and extremely sensitive to
his environment. A hurt would always be remembered. His Moon was also out-of-bound, beyond the
ecliptic at the time of birth. This would imply that there would be extreme emotions or events at
certain periods of his life as the Moon goes out-of-bounds 2-3 times during his lifetime.

Did he have to kill 32 people and himself?  If you are full of repressed anger inside and have a
mind that is confused and full of illusions, and with a Mars and Pluto combined in Scorpio to give you
the power to avenge yourself, you might be able to act out as Cho did. On the other hand, had the
people around him noticed that he needed help and took the time to help him work out his anger in
a positive manner, this awful massacre might not have occurred, maybe. The mystery is that we
truly do not know whether that would have made a difference, and neither does Astrology have the
answer.

On the morning of the massacre (see Chart 2 and Chart 3 below), Moon, Mercury and the Sun were
all in the astrological sign of Aries. Aries is ruled by the planet Mars. An Aries native will push himself
to the limit to test his courage and prove that he is brave. There was a great deal of Martial force in
motion on this day and it was squaring and agitating his Capricorn Sun. Since Capricorn and Aries are
Cardinal Signs, they act quickly and swifly!
